Sgt. Chuck Groover serves the Covington Police Department as the accreditation manager and training officer. He has been with Covington since 2002.
He began his law enforcement career in 1973 with the Macon Police Department and retired from them in 2001 after 28 years of service. He was one of the original board members of GPAC when the organization was started in 1989 and served as the first Secretary/Treasurer.
He has also served as a board member and as chairman. He helped establish the State Certification Program and serves both as a lead instructor and as a Team Leader. He has been involved with the accreditation process since 1986. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Brenau University, a Masters degree in Public Administration from Georgia College and a Master of Science degree from Troy University. He is a graduate of the Northwestern University Traffic Institute nine-month course and the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College, class #4.
