Officer Joe Hencely of the Henry County Police Department, in the suburbs southeast of Atlanta, serves as the Recruiting Coordinator. HCPD has been a State Certified agency since 2010, was awarded its first re-certification in 2013, and expects to be re-certified again in 2016. Officer Hencely is a State Certification Assessor for mock and on site assessments.

Officer Hencely began his law enforcement career at the Henry County Sheriff’s Office in 1988. In 1991 the Henry County Board of Commissioners formed the county police department and Officer Hencely was one of the inaugural employees. At HCPD he has served as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Internal Affairs Investigator, Domestic Violence Specialist, and Certification Manager. Officer Hencely attended Clayton State College and University.

Officer Hencely is a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserves and served on the Board of Directors for the Flint Circuit Prevention of Family Violence.
